El Raso is not in the town. It sits inland, in what the INE calls El Campo, the Campo de Guardamar, on the edge of the La Mata lagoon. More than two thousand people live in the Campo according to the INE’s 2025 estimate, the largest population anywhere in the municipality outside the town itself. There, bungalows, townhouses and low blocks stand round communal pools.
That is lovely to live in and hard to find a door in. Rows of similar houses, similar gates, similar pools. If you are calling for help, here is what makes the difference.
Say the area first
“El Raso, Guardamar” before the street. Street names that mean something in your head can sound like a street in another part of town on a bad phone line, and the area tells whoever is coming which road to take.
The same goes for the other urbanizations. Some have two names, a Spanish one and a Valencian one: Los Estaños is Els Estanys, El Moncayo is El Montcaio, and Lomas del Polo and Pinomar are counted together. Say both if you are not sure which one is on the sign. The coverage page lists the names people use for each area.
Then the street, the number, and the group
The street and the house number, then the name of the residential group if it has one, usually on the gate or a sign by the pool. If your bungalow is inside a gated group, say so: the gate is a door too.
Then a pin
A location pin on WhatsApp, sent from where you are standing, removes all doubt. On most phones it is in the attachment menu of the chat, under “Location”. Send your current location, not a live one that drains the battery.
Then a landmark
The pool you face, a shop on the corner, the bus stop, the colour of the gate. Anything you can see that somebody arriving could see too.
If you are a guest
Ask the owner or the agency for the full address, including the group name and the house number, on the day you arrive, and save it on your phone. When the door has just shut with the keys inside is the wrong moment to start looking for it.
